ScenicView Academy

This is me working at ScenicView Academy's Greenhouse. I worked there from 2004 to 2006. I enjoyed working there and taking care of the plants. I like to plant and to garden. I really like this photo of me.
ScenicView Academy is a school for people with learning disabilities. People with LD can learn and grow but it takes them a long time and in different ways. People with LD don't have an Intellectual Disability. Many people have thought that I had ID because I have a LD and I have a speech problem. But I don't have ID, I just have a LD called Asperger's Syndrome.
I have been with SVA (ScenicView Academy) for nine years now. When I first got there it was really small and I was the sixth student that entered SVA. I was among the first pioneers of SVA. SVA opened for the first time in 2001. SVA was concieved by a mother who had a son with LD and she wanted to help her son by starting up SVA. I won't tell who she was because her and her husband wanted to be anonymous and that's how far I will mention of them. I have been blessed to be part of SVA, which I'm very grateful for. I have met a lot of wonderful people there and a lot of friends. A lot of people came and went from SVA through out the years and I miss some of them a lot. Also over the years I have seen a lot of changes to SVA. When I first got there, there was only one building with a green roof and a dead orchard by it. Now there are alot of buildings and the dead orchard has been cut down by SVA staff and students a long time ago. From 2001-2006 I was a student living on SVA campus. Then from 2006-2010 I was a day student living off campus. Now I'm a follow up student that only goes to SVA for life coaching and therapy. That is my experience with SVA in a nutshell. Thanks for reading!

About Who I Am

My name is David Charles Gratiot and I'm an LDS/Mormon Aspie. In other words I have Asperger's Syndrome and I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I'm from Provo, Utah and lived here for over half of my life. I also lived in Tempe, Arizona for most of my teen years and as a young adult. That was from 1988-1999 and 2000-2001 when I lived in Tempe. Between 1978-1980 my family and I lived in San Jose, California and I can still remember living there. My favorite mountain on earth is Mount Timpanogos and my favorite television show is The Simpsons. I have a lot of things I like to do but I will talk about them in other posts. I'm 36 yrs old and I'm still single. I never been married or had a girlfriend in my life. I have three blood brothers and no blood sisters and I'm the oldest child. I have four step brothers and one step sister but I have not met them yet. My parents got a divorce when I was an adult. My mother is remarried to a good guy that really helps and loves her a lot. They both live in Missouri, which I never been before. The only states I have been in my life are: Utah, Arizona, California, Nevada, and Idaho. My father lives in a retirement center in Missouri and he enjoys it a lot. My father and two of my blood brothers have Asperger's Syndrome too. Our family first heard of AS (short for Asperger's Syndrome) in the year 2000 when my youngest brother was diagnosed with it and then shortly after my other brother and I and my father were diagnosed with AS. The two brothers that have AS still lives in Arizona. One lives in a group home in Phoenix and the other lives in Tempe. My other brother that does not have AS is married and has two children and they live in Missouri. My brother and his wife were married in 2001. I couldn't go to their wedding because I was living up here in Provo. I truly wanted to go to the wedding but I didn't had the money to go down to Tempe. I have one nephew and one niece that I never met before but would love to meet them. They are my brothers two children.

This blog will be anything and everthing about me and the way I see the world. I will put down my thoughts, feelings, opinions, and ideas here. I will try and leave my big personal issues out because they are private and personal. I will put down my pictures and my artwork in this blog and talk about them. I will also put down some fictional story ideas here.

I will end this post here, so I can save some stuff for other posts. Thanks for reading!
